I recently left my man after 6 years. He is a tough, tatooed, macho, muscular cop. Yet he is also a total mamas boy with a controlling mother. He also always wants to hang with the "boys". He always wants a guy friend around. He workouts with them, drinks with them, travels with them. He does stuff with them he won't with me. He was normal sexually, we had a good sex life. Anyway, my mom asked if he was bisexual, because he likes to be with the "boys" so much. Is this possible. he is very homophobic. i can't imagine he would be, but then you hear of these men. please give me your opinion.

He may be a typical, macho guy and if so, his preference to hang with and talk to are other men. He is totally comfortable with men because that is the norm for guys who grew up playing sports, drinking beer, boasting about how many women they did - when they didn't do any - and being enamored of certain men because of their extreme masculinity. These guys can do it good in bed with a woman but they do not want to spend much time with them other than the sex game. They do not make good husbands and therefore not good fathers. They may go through life not having sex with another man but if they drink a lot and/or do drugs they will have the sex, love it and feel guilty the next day. The pattern will repeat and the sex gets more often. He will get back to g.f. as often as possible to have sex for the pleasure and to prove to himself that he can do it. This is tragic because it just leads to more and more substance abuse. He may not have been born gay but the fact that he is only comfortable with other men probably means he is gay but in extreme denial. Explosion day will come and it is likely that he will target a gay or gays for violence to once again prove to himself that he is not gay, he is just a man who needs men - as do all men in the dna sense. Straight men are comfortable with men and women and know it and recognize that their best pal/buddy is someone they love. Just in a different way. This is healthy and any man can relate to this fact.
Mamas boys have it tougher if they are gay. Explosion time comes sooner. Mothers: Don't ever emasculate your son(s) by your neediness and need to have your boy constantly display that his favorite girl is mommy. Bad parenting in the extreme.

Will I guess anything could be possible but maybe he just likes hanging with the guys. And I guess it could be possible that he is trying to cover up the fact that he is gay by being a "macho man cop guy".

It sounds like he may think he might gay because of his homophobia and the way he is always with the guys, working out and such. Could be the best thing you could have done was leave him before he decides he is gay and 'comes out of the closet'.
