cut the net that holds them!

It helps if you could find 4 anchor-points around a side of the ceiling. If not, install 4 hooks, each at one corner.
You need a net to contain the balloons. DO NOT cover the entire ceiling, for if not, the net will hit the guests first before they could be wow by the balloon drop.Get those made of nylon. should be the lightest of them all.

What we usually do is concentrate the balloon drop either right on top of the stage or dance floor. This is how you do:

1) After you find/fix the 4 - 8 anchor points (depends on the size of your net), tie-fix one side of the net.
2) Feel the net with balloons like putting eggs in a basket. You probably need another person's help on the other end of the net to hold on to it.
3) Once filled, do not hook the net to the points. Rather, thread a piece of string (much longer than the side of the net,and should be able to extend all the way down to the floor where you are going to execute) through the net. The string should go onto the hooks.
4) Upon execution, all you need to do is to pull the string, which will release itself and the net from the hooks on one side, and release the balloons.

I suggest you try once and see if you understand. It's quite tough to tell you how to do it through words... Really hope you get my idea.

By the way, the balloons shouldn't be stuck closely to the ceiling. It is ok to have the entire thing drope down a little (between 8-10ft). That's why we always ask for a tall ceiling for such special effects.

All the best!
