yes people can change, but it will vary one to another,
the worst case, they will change after they lost their valuable or their beloved one.

I think that people change a little everyday. As you go through life the experiences that you have change you in some way. Some of them are more obvious than others. Most people don't realize these changes. They only realize the big ones, but the big ones are usually a result of a bunch of small ones.
As far as the hate goes, it is the same as love. There will always be a bit that stays with you. You might get over what ever it is, but there will always be some that lingers. It is up to you to determine if you can deal with the leftovers.

people cannot change, they only adapt and that is only done with sincere longing for a better life. I believe you can forgive, you can go on or there are some who die with hate and pain from the world. I thought with the right type of love and care my son's father could become a person who could live a life of peace and happiness, but he chose to hold onto his anger and he tried his best at ruining my life, almost killing me and my son, because he was so angry with the world he could not learn to contain it at his own will and release it in healthy ways. To answer your question.. adaptation is the only possiblity past the age of accountability.

I truly believe some persons are so unhappy in their lives, that they have to make everyone else's life miserable. They hate their life and unfortunately most of their unhappiness they have brought on themselves and they will die hating themselves and the world. You cannot change them. the only thing you can do is feel sorry for them.

When the person has awareness, yes he/she will make changes. People can only make changes on their own, not when told by someone. Some people will carry their hate to their grave. However, they could work on releasing it though.

I think it is possible to change their path. It isn't easy and it isn't something you do for someone else. Only you can change the path you are walking. And that isn't to say that there won't be payment for your hate in the past. Karmic balance/Karmic Justice. You reap what you sow in this world and the next. But I do believe it is possible to change your path for the better or the worse - that's up to you.

The hate only continues if you let it. Everyone can choose to let it go. What stops it is pride, stubbourness, stupidity and envy. I hate quite a lot of things but I usually realise I am getting nowhere fast and get over it. Until it upsets me again......

Hatred is usually in them for life, unless they go through a life altering experience. I believe most people change every 5 years.

Yes they can, however most of the times it is very difficult. Sometimes people do not aware of their need to change and it makes the change for them very difficult.

When there is a will there is a way. If these people really want to change let them read Bhagavad Gita and they will definetly change after that.

hate is almost often in-bred, so it will take a miracle to change someone, or if they experience a near-death experience and they see a "tunnel with a bright light at the end of it." even then, it still requires a miracle to change them. lol
