My family wants to take a vacation and were thinking about using Priceline for the airline tickets. Has anyone used them? We did the Name Your Own Price on the tickets and found a great deal. What are the flights like? A lot of layovers? Any hidden costs? Any problems with the tickets? What about boarding passes? We played around with the amounts, it accepted several different ones. If we agree to pay a lower amount, will we get worse flights than if we were to name a higher price? Any feedback anyone can give would be appreciated. Any luggage restrictions? Thanks.

If I put in a price of 99 per ticket, will I get better flights than say if I were to put in 10 per ticket?

Priceline is "ok" but you are at their mercy. Instead of getting an early flight so you can get to where you are going you might get a red eye instead.

Personally I want more control over my itenerary. For a few bucks more I'd rather leave at say 10AM instead of 11PM. Thats a whole day of vacation a person misses out on.

If you want to search the World Wide Web for low AirFare try this website. http://www.utopia.worldventures.com It searches all the major airlines so you do not have to go website to website comparing.

The airlines have a set price they're not going to go under--when you bid you're in essence trying to guess what that price is by bidding. I prefer Expedia--they tell you what price the airlines are willing to take and you can choose the flight time you want, and the connections you want.

A word of warning--the more you check out a flight, the more demand the airlines think there is for a certain day. A few years ago we were supposed to have a family reunion in Alaska. Pretty cool! But with so many people looking into flight it drove the price up! The reunion was finally cancelled because no one could afford to go!

Your best price is likely to be early, so don't wait to buy your ticket! It especially goes up if you buy it within 2 weeks of traveling!

Priceline is okay if you don't mind flying at bizarre times. We are flying at 10pm and coming back at 6Am. If you don't mind that and the rice is right then go for it. One thing though, you can't change your ticket at all once you buy them.
