If your teacher said that X can be any real number, he was wrong. That equation is only true if X = 9.

X is called an unknown in this case, which needs to be solved for.

What the equation X+2 = 11 means is: What number, when added to 2, will equal 11. The only number X can be for which that is true is 9.

how about 9?
x+2=11. If X is 9 it will work.

Calculate it by removing 2 from each sideas x+2 -2=11-2
x=9!!!

OK this is the answer
X+2=11
it will be
x=11-2 <--- why we have -2 over here?
this is the explanation
X+2-2=11-2

so you want what is X

X=9
