Yes, I do although sometimes working with juveniles in a locked facility can seem hopeless. I just hope that we turn a few of them around.
But then I work with really tough kids, kids who have been convicted as sex offenders, for drugs, attempted murder, kids who have suffered terrible and unspeakable abuse etc, so my view can be a little grim at times.
I hope for a much brighter future for my own children, but wish they were growing up more like I did.
I am usually pretty worried about the things that could happen to them.

Actually I think the NCLB laws are pushing the schools to take accountability and making the schools work harder. I know we have to try to get the type of kids I work with to try to pass standardized tests which can be difficult, but the schools really are improving. The problem is that society is not.
I'm a conservative.

First of all, who is this Marty K?? Everything he answers has to do with "liberals" and how they are "corrupting" someone or something. What a jerk!~

Anyway: I care about our youth! I am very upset about the violence in the US at the present time. Also, the educational system is the absolute worst! Kids are not being taught how to learn, how to find answers for themselves. And, they are being fed lies about the nature of the "war on terror". I am terrified of a group of parents who would rather let their daughters take future chances with cervical cancer than to let them be vaccinated against the STD that could cause it. I am appalled at the rights we are losing in the name of national security. I am sickened by the racism and hate that I see displayed in a small part on "YAnswers" everyday, by the lack of love (even by , or mostly by, so-called Christians); I think that our children are being poisoned by the air they breathe, the food they eat, and the TV they watch, the music they listen to, etc. etc. And, I think that this country doesn't really are about them. (Why is it that if a child is murdered, the murderer is rarely charged with anything greater than manslaughter or second degree murder????) I could go on and on, but I sound like I'm ranting already.

Just one more thing: Who will your doctor be when you are old and grey? Ans.: Someone who is young now!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

In real world situations, youth has to care about other community and the world. They have more responsibility more than ever to the present situation.

I agree with the disrespectful part. You can blame that on the fact that everyone is taught to get rich now....not...be a good person and live a life of integrity. Social standards have made the most immoral of things ok due to the numbing effect of overexposure. Sex, Gays, greed, things that were once a respectful conversation of ethics are now everyday events. it's rediculous. Mainstream has ruined the values of this country. Along with parents who don't teach their children the morals they were taught.

Yes, yes, yes, yes! At the church where I attend, a significant portion of monies goes into a youth minister to listen, be present to, & guide the young people. Tons of folks care..... and that's the truth. I wish you well! :)
