depends on the model. I have the z500a and its 2 yrs old and works great. Just look and user and editor reviews at non-bias sites (sites not affiliated or endorsed by any manufacturers) like ZDnet.com or Cnet.com.

I would say it depends on the phone type. I had Sony Ericsson and was really satisfied with it. I bought one in 2000, and used it intensively for 2 year, then gave it to my mom, and she`s using it ever since and has no problems with it. So draw your own conclusions!

I usually check GSMArena.com and CNet.com user's review for phone durability. It would probably depend on the model.
