I really can't make a totally informed comparison, as I'm an XM subscriber, but only get the Sirius music channels included with DishNetwork.
That being said, I've been very happy with XM - we have it in three cars. When one of their partners (Clear Channel) started putting ads on their programming, XM immediately created new programming in the same genres that was still commercial free.

Sirius.
They don't name their stations Jack, Bob, Jill or other juvenile names.
XM is more computer like. All Sirius stations have dj's.
XM is good too, but Sirius is way better. Sirius #24, their eclectic station is the best radio station I have ever heard. David Johanssen, who was in the New York Dolls, has a show on Friday nights that is great.
Bill Walton, the ex basketball great has a show on the Jam ON channel, and is very good.
Of course they have a kazillion channels for just about everything. 5 country, 6 or more rap, wide variety of rock, jazz. Talk radio is great too.
I like it a lot. I have XM on my Direct TV satellite and I think it is too formatted or computer like, not crazy about it.
Sirius seems to be more of the thinking man's radio, thats my opinion!

Mainly personal preference for me, both are cool, but I gotta have my Subterranean with Zoltar! If Sirius has it, that's great.
