The cause of most canker sores remains a mystery.

Researchers generally believe that stress or tissue injury may cause the eruption of canker sores. A minor injury — caused by biting the inside of your mouth or by eating rough foods, such as nuts — may trigger a canker sore. Other causes may include:

Faulty immune system function
Nutritional problems, such as a deficiency of vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid or iron
A disease of the gastrointestinal tract
Food allergies
Menstrual periods
Though anyone can get cankers sores, they tend to run in families and may be an inherited condition.

The following practices may provide temporary relief of canker sores:

Avoid abrasive, acidic or spicy foods, which may increase the pain.
Apply ice to your canker sores or allow ice chips to slowly dissolve over the sores to ease the pain.
Brush your teeth gently, using a soft brush to avoid irritating the sore.
Rinse your mouth with salt water or over-the-counter preparations. Try diluted hydrogen peroxide or elixir of diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Be sure to spit the Benadryl out to avoid absorption, so that the medication doesn't make you sleepy.
Dab a small amount of milk of magnesia on your canker sore a few times a day. This can ease the pain and may help the canker sore to heal.
Use an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others). But don't give aspirin to children. Aspirin may trigger a rare, but potentially fatal, disorder known as Reye's syndrome

"Canker sores usually go away without any treatment. For pain relief, you can try taking ibuprofen (brand name: Advil) or acetaminophen (brand name: Tylenol). Other medicines, such as Anbesol, Oragel, Orabase and Zilactin-B, might keep your canker sores from becoming irritated by eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. You put these medicines right on the sore.

You can also mix equal amounts of Milk of Magnesia and Benadryl Allergy liquid. After it's mixed, you can swish a teaspoonful in your mouth for about 1 minute and then spit it out. If you do this every 4 to 6 hours, your canker sores may hurt less.

Some people think that sucking on zinc lozenges, taking vitamin C or vitamin B complex, using a sage-and-chamomile mouthwash or taking a lysine supplement helps their canker sores heal faster."

He needs to go to the free clinic or the clinic for stds because herpes is and can be sexually transmitted and when you don't take care of it, it gets worst. Now the stds of Herpes could have been from a cold sore and when he touched it without washing his hands and touched his eyes or any other area of opened flesh on his body, he transmitted the disease to that location. So he has to be treated with medication and this will alleviate the pain and the duration of the disease. He is worried about the stigma associated with a std instead of getting healthy. There are clinics out there - planned parenthood is another one that will help and there are public clinics that will take him in and give in a free examination or one that would be on a sliding scale fee or bill him later. Either way he needs treatment - whose to say he can't go blind from non-treatment?

Canker sore...quite common....pharmacies have over the counter treatments for it. However, if you tried the drug store treatment and the canker sore grows, that'd be a good time to visit the dentist, for it may be an abcess needing professional attention.

But don't whiz yourself out: go to the drug store and ask for a canker sore medicine. You'll be fine. I'll send you my bill in the morning....have a great evening.

canker, not kinkor

they're an autoimmune ulceration. You can't do really much of anything for them other than not poking at it and keeping your mouth clean. They usually go away in about a week.

worst case scenario you have syphillis. If you haven't had oral sex it is probably a bacterial infection that will go away in a couple of days. Use an antiseptic moputhwash and be carefull what you put in your mouth.

it's most likely a canker sore [a.k.a. a mouth ulcer]

but if you start noticing more and more, or if it doesn't go away soon, it could be a form of herpes...
