I would recommend going to your local dept. store and have a few of the make-up counters such as MAC, Clinique, Benefit, Lancome do your make-up. You can then determine which feels the best and which blends best with your skin tone.
Go have some fun and Good luck!

The best kinds? Not brands? Well I guess I'll give you both.
To do a cover up job the ultimate tools are these.
A heavy concealer, applied with a dab and roll motion using your finger to the obvious facial flaw issues.
(Bobbi Brown makes a foundation stick that is perfect as a concealer, Macs are good, even for photos since you have your foundation and powder to cover it,)
Foundation has the best results when not to thick and easy to apply evenly. Use your finger tips and than blend with a sponge.
(The best for whatever kind of skin, Promise, is Neutrogena Visibly firm.)
If you dont have a bad skin tone or unevenness i think foundation really isn't needed.
Powder. Always loose applied with a big brush. It doesn't get clumpy or cake.
(Bobbi Brown's, Laura Mercier,)
(if your doing makeup for photos make sure the ingredient *titanium dioxide* is as low on the list as possible. It is what light reflects off of, so your face will inevitably look ghostly in pictures. Actually, Mac Studio Fix the compact everyone swears by is number one culprit for bad wedding photos because of the amount of titanium dioxide the product has in it.)

Mac! The have some great colors and the coverage and quality are so great.
I would recommend designer or department store foundation, the stuff at the drug store is not as good in quality or color selection.
Foundation is important to match and blend into your natural skin, if the color is off or the quality cakey it looks so ew.
There are special spray foundations to srapy on a sponge and apply, such light coverage and there are hundreds of colors.
The girls that work the counter will make sure you get just the right color and consistancy!

I actually find that using moisturiser, concealer, blush then brushing loose powder over my face looks a whole lot better than a foundation. It gives you that flawless look without caking, and doesn't 'melt' in the heat. I have heard that most professional make-up artists prefer to use loose powder. I have only tried Maybelline Shine Free loose powder but it seems to be pretty good, it keeps the shine off pretty much all day. But if you still want to use foundation, the best one I've tried is Shiseido 'The Makeup' foundation. It's a bit pricey but really good - and you have to talk to the consultant and get the colour that matches your skin perfectly, that's the most important part.

well it would be Bare Minerals which is a foundation it the form of a powder, covers better than foundation-liquid- and looks and feels like a second skin and as though you have no make up on. i have the starters kit and it is $60 from Sephora with all the brushes and everything. in my opinion it is the best: you can fall asleep in this an it is good for your skip=made of ground minerals, will not clog pores and give you break outs and the coverage is fantastic.

I guess that depends on your skin type. I have tried almost every brand of cover up on the market. The best one I found was two years ago. I ordered Bare Escentuals. I have splotchy skin. This product is like powder only it is not powder. It contains minerals from the earth. You apply with a brush and barely have to use any to instantly cover up anything on your face. No kidding. I am a believer of this product. Please try it. If you go on line to QVC, you can order it and if you don't like it, you can send it back within 30 days and you can't get that guarantee from any other cosmetics that I know of. If you get too much on, then it will look too shiny. Some people like it, some don't. If you order the basic kit, and use it as told, it will work. My skin is fair and I use medium.

Just wanted to add to others' comments that I saw the infomercial on bare minerals, thought it looked cool, ordered it, put it on, and hated it! And I know I am doing it right because I went to the counter and had someone else do it and they did it the same way. It is good for your skin apparently, but looks really shiny and irridescent and glowy. Also limited in the colors it comes in; nothing matched for me and my skin is standard light to medium... Pretty weird stuff; wouldn't recommend it. I myself am looking for a foundation so not too sure here, but I do like cornsilk pressed powder and the cornsilk concealer a lot (drugstore), though sometimes it's hard to find. But if I do see it I'll pick some up; it's like a good staple to have on hand for me.

I am absolutley in love with Lancome, they have this foundation called Photogenic, it has micro-crystals in it that reflect light and make your skin look glowing, it comes in every shade imaginable too! It also provides great coverage. I also love Maybelline EverFresh coverup its light but does the job and it doesn't get all dry looking on your face, lasts all day too! Godd luck!
