this is going to be very hard. Most likley you will not be able to quit cold turkey. First switch brands to something that is more pure tobacco such as winstons then just smoke less each week. fell free to use the patch or gum. you will not be able to quit overnight so set a goal for yourself say around 6 months or even longer then that.

Lung cancer is a sure method for quitting smoking. But, that aside, the best way to stop smoking is to stop smoking for an hour at a time,, if you can sleep 8 hours without smoking you can do without a smoke 8 hours while you're awake. Just force yourself to abstain for a short time, then extend it, and keep extending it until you can do without a whole day. After a week your craving will start to subside. It's not as easy as some would have you believe, but it's not impossible.

Break the chain...put a cigarette in your mouth everytime u feel like smoking and dont light it (keep a matchbox which is wet or none at all). As to the withdrawal symptoms...u need a doctors help...

Just do the following and you will not be smoking again.
Get your lipid profile tested and see how much LDH and RDH are there and how well you are heading for a by pass in the future. with trembling hands and nothing interesting to eat for the rest of your life.

Only way - force isolate him in a hospital or remote for one month, where no cigarettes of smoking possibility exist - this will help him to quite the smoking
there is no alternate to this.

Go cold turkey. I used to smoke 3 packs a day and one day I realized that every time I lit up, it was money up in smoke. I just never bought another pack after my last one.
