the "torture" debate going on in the Senate this week? Did you know this supposed torture includes actions such as: keeping terror suspects awake for long periods of time, keeping them in a cold room, grabbing their shirts, making them stand up for long periods of time etc? Is this torture?

I believe the use of sleep and temperature against a person is a form of torture. Is it the same as pulling fingernails, of course not, but let's not kid ourselves that these things are subtle forms of torture.

We certainly would not condone police tactics along a similar vein, because confessions under duress are not all that reliable. Who knows what I would say under such circumstances.

I will not try to to convince anyone that a terrorist is the same as your common criminal. Certainly, he or she is not, but I do believe there are many ways to skin a cat and we are a very smart and clever people.

I suppose at the end of the day (judge me as you will), I am opposed to torture in any of its varied forms.

Let's also keep in mind the optimum word ...suspects. Those who favor torture make the assumption that all of these people have somehow been caught red-handed trying to kill us. We have what ...some 14,000 people held in on suspicion of being terrorists...held outside of the rule of law and possibly subjected o torture...do you really believe that all of these 14,000 people are terrrorists?? If so I have some prime real estate to offer you...
