My son LOVES to be rocked, but not really slow, kind of pepped up as if in tune with music and it puts him to sleep within seconds. I'm forever worried about everything and im scared that it's dangerous. NOTE: Its never rough or violent, just kind of fast paced. ONLY MOMS or DADS

You're son is absolutely normal in liking fast rocking. My baby had settling issues so we went into a 4day live in program run by Child and Youth Health in the state where i live. They rock bassinets firmly where there are two slightly different floor heights (eg where the bathroom tiles stop and carpet starts and it drops a little bit), or putting a block of wood or book under one cot leg to rock firmly. Babies adore this firm rocking - it soothes them. As long as your sons head, neck and back are supported then it's absolutely fine and a fantastic way to get your precious one to sleep!

As long as you are holding him close to your body and you aren't shaking him he should be fine. In fact most babies like being rocked at a bit quick pace. At least my kids and all the babies I have cared for in daycare did. If you can check out the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp. It will tell you the safe way to rock your baby at a fast pace. Not to mention it's a terrific book :)

It's not dangerous, as long as you're holding onto him firmly! My daughter loves her swing at high speeds...lol. But it may serve you better to gradually begin "weaning" him off of having to have you rock him in order for him to get to sleep. Otherwise, you're going to become a human pacifier! lol He will need to start learning how to fall asleep on his own soon. My daughter is almost 4 months old and is learning to fall asleep in her crib unassisted--not thru the night yet, but for naps. It's a process. But no, that rocking motion is not harmful to your baby. Relax and enjoy your time with him! From one first-time-mom (me) to another (you are, right?), try not to worry over every little thing. Make the most of this precious time. Trust your mom instincts.
:-) Best of luck!

There is nothing wrong with rocking like you are doing. If it is comforting to your son and helps him get to sleep..rock on. My son also didn't like to be rocked slow, he liked a faster motion...this is why I think he liked the swing so much.

when you rock him, make sure his face isn't pressed into your skin, clothes, etc and hold him firmly and closely (especially his head) to your body. This way there is no shaking of his head. Also you might want to try going from side to side instead of back and forth. Just for a different direction-no other reason. Also, consider it a short work out for yourself.

Babies actually like to be jiggled around. It reminds them of being in the womb. They are constantly being jarred around inside of mom's stomach.

The video "The Happiest Baby on the Block" suggests that jiggling their heads is very helpful when trying to calm them down. My 2-month old son likes it when I wrap my arms around him and bounce him up and down with his back to my stomach.

just be sure that your sons head is supported. Lots of babies like this bouncing and fast rocking motion.

As long as it is not jarring, it is fine.

While my wife was pregnant with my daughter, she rode the train everyday. Afterward, my daughter would only go to sleep if we went for a drive on uneven roads.
