Re-direct. Identify your real target. If it really is self directed trace the beginnings, what caused the seeds of anger to bloom? Self anger is simply an aggressive from of depression. You must think around the problem and be your own advocate. Your anger is your responsibility. You are already on the right track by opening a dialog. You be good to yourself. PS I trace my self directed anger to the cause or causes, without malice, and try to put a positive spin on the situation. Oh and I go to therapy. Lots of therapy!

Why would you ever want someone or something else running your life?
When you realize that only you are responsible for the way you feel, and when it stops becoming someone Else's fault, cause THEY made you mad, then you will be on the way.
When you allow yourself to get angry, you are giving away your control to something else.
You ain't even got control over yourself in that situation.

Get one on one therapy. Or join a support group. I would go for the one on one therapy with a good psychologist.
