a rubber ball strikes a wall at a velocity of 55 km/h and rebounds with a velocity of -15 km/h. What is the change of velocity of the ball?

if u write -15km/h then u have to replace "rebounds", because this word itself have negative sign so the ans. is -40km/h

If you remove the - sign you could have a valid ? Otherwise it means the ball no longer exists.

55-(-15) km/h=70 km/h
