The palm of my fathers hands are orange. If you look at your palm, the places where the muscle creates the curves or your hand, that is orange. We have eliminated the possiblity of his palms being stained, and fear that it may be his body trying to tell him something.

Have your dad see his physician (or take him) for a complete evaluation, testing and diagnosis. Going with him will show your care and concern. But also do research on your own, so you can have a reference point to speak intelligently , and work with the doctor to consider all of the possibities. Ask for copies o the tests results and impessions for CBC ,Chem 20 , TSH, T4 Free, and any others. Sometimes you will be able to read this against optmal test values and double check idf you feel the need to do this, Most doctor give you a big pictutre view,m but no specifica

Among the others, like beta-carotene overuse, consider that hypothyroidism (underactive or sluggish thyroid) can cause the palms and soles of the feet to appear orange. Each person may exhibit their own set of symptoms, but other symptoms of hypothyroidism physical symptoms like:

--dull facial expressions
--hoarse voice
--slow speech
--droopy eyelids
--puffy and swollen face
--weight gain
--constipation
--sparse, coarse and dry hair
--coarse, dry, and thickened skin
--carpal tunnel syndrome (hand tingling or pain)
--slow pulse
--muscle cramps
--orange-colored soles and palms
--sides of eyebrows thin or fall out

The person may also feel and/or look extremely fatigued, gain weight quickly, and may seem confused or not as sharp as usual.

Other things to consider to check and rule out are jaundice (bile and liver problems) and anorexia nervosia or improper nutrition which is a common cause of the orange palms

Could be several different things. Two that immediately come to mind is that possibly his job or hobbies cause something he is leaning on....and the second is too much beta-carotene, a substance found in orange vegetables such as carrots or yams. Sometimes different areas of the body can acquire an orange tint. Possibly he eats alot of these, or takes an overabundance of vitamins? In any case, a Dr. visit is always in order when in doubt! Good luck to Dad.

The only time I have ever seen that is when my friend was drinking carrot juice, and his palms turned orange too. Maybe your dad is getting too much of something, or not enough. Yes, he should go to a doctor, because if its more of a yellowish, he might have something wrong with his liver.

Your father should see a doctor. I had a friend that ate carrots too much and her hands would turn orange inside and around her nose also but it was from too many carrots...

Is he eating a lot of orange vegetables such as squash, carrots, or sweet potatoes? If so, there may be too much in his bloodstream. If not, it may be a vitamin deficiency. See a doctor.
