I am 39 weeks 5 days *due thursday*
I have been having horrible contractions for about 2 weeks Sometimes they are so bad I can not even move or they wake me up from a dead sleep.. It's almost unbearable.. I went to the hospital once in false labor. I lost my mucus plug already, some I lost sunday, the rest monday morning. I feel sick and exhausted.. I was in the doctor on thursday and they said I was only 70% effaced and barely 2 centimeters dilated..
The contractions are worse over the last couple days then they ever have been and are lower in my pelvis then before too..
How much more longer do you think I have?
Has anyone ever had full on contractions and haven't dialated? Do they let you just go on like that or do they induce?
I know I probably sound nuts but she is due in like 2 days and I can't take this anymore I am in so much pain..

Well I hate to tell you this hun. But I had the same thing you are going through. Only mine started when I was 3 weeks from my due date. Every night contractions would start and then stop again. I feel your pain, it stinks...To help the pain I would stand up and put my legs apart and rock my pelvis in a circle. This also helped move the baby down. The other thing you can do is walk walk walk. It will help with the pains and help you to dilate. I hope for your sake you are going into labor as I am typing this...Once you start hurting all you want it to do it stop. It is really terrible when it drags on and on. Good luck hun..I am hoping for a quick and easy labor for you!

While any number of previous contractions may have just been false labor, the fact that the mucous plug came - what - this morning (?) would seem to be a sign that you should be going within 24 of that, wouldn't it? (Of course, don't go by what I say..)
If you're feeling sick that might be a sign that you're on your way too. I could be wrong, but it seems to me you're pretty much there. People can go from close to zero to transition in as little as an hour and a half or two; so the 2 cm doesn't mean anything at all. The other thing is people can walk around with the 2 cm thing for weeks, and it also doesn't mean much of anything.

Sounds like early labor. I was in it for 3weeks then because I was so miserable the dr let me be induced 1 week early(39 Weeks). Induction was wonderful, well until they broke my water and then OWIE! I was 90-complete effacement and 3-4 cm when they induced. I gained around 1 cm a week in dialation. I would CRY to your dr BEG for an induction. SEX SEX SEX WALK WALK WALK, do squats to bring the head down more, eat eggplant parmasan just dont try castor oil it can make the baby pass its first poop and get an infection. Good luck I feel your pain.
Oh yeah I lost my mucus plug around 32 weeks or so. The dr said it dosnt mean anything, if it is bloody it can mean 24-48 hours or it can be nothing.....

I am due the 21st too. I have tried everything to induce naturally and none of it works. I am 80% effaced and have been dilated to a one for 3 weeks. My doctor says nothing you can do will make you go into labor before your body and baby are ready unless you have a chemical induction at the hospital.

Unfortunately - I'm in camp with you.
I started having full on contractions every 4 minutes at 31 weeks. Apparently I have an irritable uterus, so I was put on bedrest for a couple of weeks and put on medication to stop the contractions. I was not dilated at all.
At 36wks I was dilated to a 1cm. I started an onset of regular frequent & heavy contractions (accompanied by the runs) that continued for 2 days and then I lost my mucus plug all at once (a week ago now) on the way to L&D of all places....
They said looking at me, they thought I was in the early stages of labor and so they wanted me to come in and be examined. They confirmed I am in early labor, but I'm still going through it. I was still dilated to a 1cm when they checked me. They told me there's always the possibility it could be up to 2-3 weeks yet, so I needed to to brace myself for the long haul and focus on self preservation.
I'm 37w3d now - I have my next appointment at 38wks even. I'm going to ask to have my membranes stripped if my midwife is willing, although I'm not sure she'll go for it.
My doc prescribed Ambien to help me sleep at night since I can't sleep at all if I happen to be going through a bout of contractions that day.
Prolonged early labor can happen to some women. I just want to say, you don't sound nuts. I'm about 37.5 weeks, I was going through heavy and regular contractions since 31wks, but at least I could take drugs to stop them up until 35wks. Now, I can't imagine going until 40wks I am in such pain, and so exhausted.
Good luck!

:-(
I was due yesterday.
My doctor is gung ho about inducing labor and I was really hoping the kid would come out on his own. For the first time since my first trimester I feel nausous and sick. I can feel the baby in my pelvis and it freakin hurts. I am sick of sleeping on my sides and I'm terrified of labor but I want it to come now.
Good Luck to you! You're def. not alone!

If you can bare it have sex it always works for me if the baby is ready and your already contracting it will make the contraction come more and more frequent. 2 hours after with my last one i was at the hospital having my baby also the semen make you dilate if you can make it that far lol just the thrust on my cervix worked. Best of Luck and congrats to you!!!

yes, I did. I only dilated 2 centimeters and had a C-section. You can tell your doctor to induce and they can't say no because the longer you wait, the bigger tha baby will get and the labor will be harder....
