The only time you fail is when you give up. I know, I've been where you are and it's hard but can be done. Keep in contact with your landlord let them know where you are in terms of job and as long as you don't avoid them and pay what you can they will usually work with you. Look for resources in your community to help with utilities, food for the kid/s etc... See if your job has an education assistance program. Start with just one class if that's all you have time for. Look for independent study programs at local colleges where you work at your own pace. My cousin got a teaching degree that way while she was working as a teaching assistant and substitute.

I, too, am a Single Mom, and just became (Finally -- after almost a decade and half of being a Single MOM) an Empty Nester.

That said, your 1st Priority is to CATCH up on the bills -- that is number 1 because YOUR CHILD depends on you to provide the roof over their head, the food in their tummy, and the clothes they wear. Given that -- it is difficult (and I know this from having to pay my ex in the Divorce Settlement), so you may have to put other things on the side for now.

NOT all is lost, and NO -- NO single Mom is a FAILURE as long as they are parenting their child appropriately.

I would also suggest you go to your Local Community College (or call) and ask for the Women's Resources Department -- there are SPECIAL PROGRAMS in every state for Women who are Single Parents trying to better themselves through Education (or going back to school once again), and Women Re-entering the workforce (after time away for their marital years and child-rearing years). These services are free -- and you need to make an appointment to obtain their information/services. Some states will even provide college grants for Single Parents who want to pursue their further education -- all you have to do is ASK!

Just relax.......things will get better -if you keep on trying!

Its a great thing to want to continue your education! I'm sure a single mom can get some financial aid/ grants to help pay for things!

As long as you continue to grow as a person--you'll have a long and happy life! And don't feel like a failure--at least your trying to support yourself--and not just taking a hand out(welfare)

Bless you and Try to find all the positives in your life!

I'm a single mom and I too want to go back to school. But for you it will have to go on the back burner until you get your finances caught up unless maybe you can move back home with a parent or sibling until you get on your feet again. Good Luck I hope you get to go to school.

well i think you should take it one thing at a time. also, dont be so hard on yourself, you got laid off, it was out of your control. at least you are back to work now. dont stress out, just remain on a very tight budget, and pay/save what you can when you can. everything will work out. dont give up. just go to school when you get everything else together. and i am sure that your child(ren) dont see you as a failure.
good luck!!!

I agree with the other girl, until you are nearly caught up, then
there's really anybody can say. Unless some rich guy comes
to rescue you and your children. Good Luck!!
