AWD is for improved traction. Drifting is a result of a loss of traction. AWD is gonna make it really hard for a novice to do what you are wanting to do. Tip for ya, Get some old broke down piece of crap and practice on it, because you are gonna crash. I'm not insulting you, WE ALL CRASH. It comes with the territory. You drift, you crash. It also help to learn on dirt. Lower speed = lower repair bill. Then move on up to asphault, then move on up to AWD.
The Subaru Impreza WRX turbo is the best AWD Flick and Fly.

I would say neither, i suggest researching another car for drift. Awd conversions are very expensive and you will mostly likely end up wasting time and not doing anything. I have heard ppl try to do this unless parts for what you are trying to do exsist and are readily available, you can try to prove me wrong but you will see it won't work. It is possible don't get me wrong but time, effort and money become a problem. I suggest going with a different car altogether. Both of the cars you have picked are slow. They can be fast but that requires more engine upgrades/ swaps which means more money. Then the fact of going awd, again more money. Getting it to work right more money. I'd suggest the easiest way is to get something already awd or rwd. Something light of course with power. 5.0 miata, SR20 240sx, STi, Evo, RS 2.5 w/ newer STi engine all come to mind. I mean their are many different aspects to look at, too for example are the parts easy to find and affordable? Will it be a daily driver? How much am i willing to spend? What about rainy days? (awd no prob, rwd u know, sideways) Faster straight line? more drift? What do I want more spend money on something now or save a get a house and get a bling car? Not to offend, just my opinion. I have seen an Integra converted to rear wheel drive for driving, using some weird hacked up combination of CR-V parts. But I wouldn't recommend that - the Eclipse already came with a robust AWD drivetrain, and the CR-V parts are not meant to handle serious power. And I don't even want to know what that RWD Integra cost.

Go with an Eclipse GSX.
