I've tried everyting!!!!!resetitng my computer,making sure it's not on mute,plugging and unplugging stuff,pluggin in headphones,everything!!!And it still doesn't work!!!!!is my sound card broken!?

ok if this matters,my operating system is windows 2000 and right before I lost the audio,the computer guy came to install some security software.

It sounds like your sound cards doesnt work any more

Try going to audio properties, then unchecking the mute button. Or raise the levels. That happens to me sometimes :P

If that doesn't fix it, reformatting your computer will. Although a bit drastic.

I'm not sure if windows 2000 has the system restore option, but if it does then go back to before you had the security stuff installed. If it works then, you know the security guy did something to the sound on accident.

That's all you can do. Although the sound card may be burned like the others said, not sure if it's that likely. But e-mail me if you have questions...

your sound card is not broken. if u can tell me what operating system you're running (windows xp, windows 2000, etc.) and what happened just b4 u lost audio, i may be able to help u. don't give up!! i'll be checking back sweetie.

How about clicking volume control on the lower right corner of windows where the time is and see if it is set on high?

burned sound card. buy a new one. built-in motherboards one aren't so good unless you have a US DOLLARS $2000 like mine then it is good. only 40 dollars at some stores

check if your speaker/headphones is connected to the output. check your major sound control and make sure its not off xD hope this helps

try start>settings>control panel>system>device manager to see if the device is working as far as the op sys goes.

Go to Start>Run, type in "services.msc", find "Windows Audio" and see whether its running or not, and restart it if its running. Enable it if its disabled.
