i wear black under other colors that i wouldnt usually wear...
like those opalescent ones that kinda have a different color if you tilt the bottle...
i had a white opalescent one that i did that with and over black it was green...
you get all kinds of interesting effects with it. i've also discovered that some that are meant to change colors with the angle you look at the nail only turn out right over black.
just a thought. try painting a bunch of colors over some shiney black plastic and u will see what i mean.

I wouldn't wear it just because it seems like it is what all the teeny boppers think is "cool," but some of my gal friends do their's in black when we get all fixed up to go clubbing. Black nails look good with the right outfits, I guess, but it's definitely not an all day, everyday look.

NeverReady and Anna both make good points about using it at night when you're really dressed to the nines or on Halloween, etc. Since you asked, I'll add that to wear it because everyone else is wearing it makes it look like you want to be part of the in-crowd. As long as you keep that possibility in mind when you decide, I'd say there's not really anything wrong with it. But in my view, it certainly doesn't make you stand out from the crowd.

I like it.
I used to put a colour on first then a coat of black over the top. while the black polish is still wet get a toothpick and lightly scratch some lines or squiggles in. do 2 coats of clear. It looks really good cause you only get that hint of another colour. Try it with colours you wouldn't normally use like emerald green.

Black is cool colour, but if a girl get black nail colour make me connect dirty.
In addition, if the girl who get small nail but still polish in black. It make me sick. I just think that she is a naive girl and never interest with her.

It looks cool if you don't let it chip, but as soon as it starts to chip it really irriates me. More than any other color chipping for some reason. Also i really hate when people do this with a permanent marker rather than nail polish.

I think it looks better on shorter fingernails than longer ones. I didn't know it was popular, but I like black. I wouldn't wear it with nice dresses.
