Watch finding neverland, it explains the concept of what led up to the creation of the whole peter pan story. The actual answer is that he never had a real name, but the person that he was created after was named Mrs. Emma du Maurier.

Well, he is a fictional character, so there is no real answer. Yes, his name is Captian James Hook. Maybe he was just a deck swabber or something. Then he lost his hand, called himslef Hook, and threatened people with his hook and became captain. That's the only explaination. Like, Prince Charming. I mean, how the heck are you supposed to tell he was charming at birth. Anyway, that's what I think. Good question!!!
