My husband's credit report states he owes a creditor $300. We've disputed the debt three times via Transunion, Eq and Ex. All three were validated. We've sent three certified letters requesting validation, and one requesting a payment address, etc. We have also called over 50 times and left numerous messages, which aren't returned. It seems like they only respond to one of the three credit bureaus, who tell me to keep trying. I can't remove it, I can't pay it. Now what???

If you have gone this far, you may need to engage an attorney.

You seem to have an idea of who the creditor is, and possibly their address. If that is true, then you should contact the creditor directly, via certified mail if practical. Inquire as to the nature of the debt, and the verification. If the debt is legitimate pay it or make arrangements.

If the debt is not, then, you have a right to demand that the debt not be reported. If they refuse, you will have to consult with counsel for the next step, which would be a suit to determine same.

Depending on the amount of the debt, you will have to determine if it is worth the time and trouble.

If you need more information, contact an attorney in your state. If you don't know one, contact your local or state bar association for a referrral.

Put a notice on each of the credit reporting agencies that you are disputing this debt. You don't say how long you have been fighting this, but in seven years it must be removed from your credit report.

Get a lawyer. It is possible that it is not reported due to HIPPA, the medical privacy act. It is actually a violation to report an unpaid debt on your credit report and indicate that it is payable to a doctor. Good luck.

There is no such thing as an invisible creditor in court, That's where you take it.
