A food chain always starts from plant life and continues from the smaller animals to the biggest (or the smartest whichever may be the case). Plant eaten by small fish, small fish eaten by bigger,, etc.
As plant life in the sea is at the bottom, when we enter the ocean we go to the top of the food chain.
At the bottom of the food chain are the sea plants and plankton. Many types of fish and animals such as the snail, shrimp, jellyfish, and sea star, crabs, eat the plankton.
The small animals and fish who eat plankton then become food for larger fish, as tuna , haddock and other fish of that size.
These fish are then eaten by larger fish and animals, such as the shark and dolphin.
The real question is, however, when we do enter the sea, are WE are the ones who continue that chain or the dolphins and sharks? :-)
