I wish he had stayed away from Bush, he would be a positive influence on the nation as a whole if he had not been talked into misrepresenting the case for war in Iraq before the UN.

Colin Powell is a man who should simply take a seat on the bench and fade away like a good soldier. Why is a Liberal suggesting this?? Here's why...I may drag on...so bear with me...

Here you have a Vietnam Vet, who served his country with distinction. Then when it is clear that the country would have favored his own run for the Presidency, he shuns the opportunity with false excuses of protecting his family. Here is a man who faced countless battlefield dangers and showed courage at every turn until his country asked him to step up to the plate and then he shirked his duty.

Then he serves the Bush Administration and sells his integrity to pass on lies to the World Community that he himself now decries.

In my own opinion, a Man cannot simply pick his moments to act with moral courage. Either you stand up at the time or your remain silent for the duration. Because if it was wrong at the time and you did nothing to inform the American people then you are guilty of a cowardice that is as unsettling as it is unforgivable from a decorated American soldier.

And sadly, the very thing that caused this otherwise great American to run from public service has come to pass...he has shamed his reputation before the American people...

once you choose to walk a cowardly path...it seems to follow your actions ever after.

I do not like Bush or Cheney whatsoever, but they never waver from their convictions. I may not agree with them, but I am compelled to respect them for these convictions.

And I think both conservatives and liberals will respect a man who takes a stand and never wavers no matter which way the wind blows.

Sadly, my own Democratic Party suffers from "sunshine" convictions that erode the trust of the American People. People are inspired by men and women who embrace their visions and their convictions and do not sell them cheaply.

I always thought Colin Powell was a stand up guy. Then it came time to stand up and he remained seated. What did they do to break you Colin? How could you give in to such treachery? Why must the good ones always be tainted? Why? Why? why?

Good, smart, man of character. One of my bosses served as a Colonel in the 1st Gulf War and in the USCOE (aka USACE) during Colin Powell's 'heyday' and thinks the world of him. So do I.

Possibly the smartest man in the Bush administration wheh he left. At the very least, the man has a conscience and believes in a code of ethics. He should run for public office.

He has b.... of steel to have dissented with this Administration at the price of giving up his job.

A Homeland Security official did the same recently and was shown the door by his employers.

After six years of kissing Bush's ***, he finally grew another set of balls and came out against changing the Geneva Conventions. Obviously, a good man....with no real backbone.

He is a very acomplished man.
I used to respect him very much, but I feel he is dead wrong on many of the things he is saying now.
I now believe that he is a Liberal in Conservative clothing.
