I've been getting headaches that come and go for days. They arent severve headaches, just enough to drive me insane! When I take tylenol they go away but after a few hours, they come right back. I'm 4 months pregnant and have been taking my prenatal vitamins all along, but could they possibly be giving me headaches? Or maybe the headaches arent pregnancy related at all? I never had headaches before I got pregnant.

The headaches are related to the pregnancy. It is normal to have headaches - they are called "baby headaches." They will go away eventually - be patient and drink some tea & relax.

If you feel that you're getting sick due to the vitamins, take the vitamin at night. It doesn't matter when you take the vitamin, just as long as you take them.

Hello mommy-to-be,
When I was preggo with my first I started prenatal vitamins from the WIC clinic. My Midwife never once asked to make sure I was taking them. Sure, they are a great source of nutrition for a healthy baby, but they are overrated as well. I switched to Flinstone's vitamins at about three and a half months because the prenatals were making my morning sickness completely intollerable and giving me headaches as well...At five months I stopped taking vitamins all together and my son weighed a healthy 8lbs 15 ozs....I am pregnant again with my second child a girl and never even started the vitamins. I could be lucky but then again I am pretty sure that the vitamins would not have made much difference. If you do chose to take Flinstone vitamins do NOT get extra Iron that is a bad thing for baby...
Congrats to you good luck hope all turns out well for you....

Hello i am 16 weeks pregnant and I get a headache almost everyday. It helps me when I take a nap in the middle of the day. Prenatal Vitamins. I couldn't keep them down so my doc told me to go buy flinestone vitamins for kids and take two a day and its working a lot better. There are several types of prenatal vitamins, maybe you can talk to ur doc about switching them, i tried like 4 kinds and couldn't take any.

If the headaches really bother you I would say you should talk to your doctor. It could be stress, dehydration, maybe a side-effect of the vitamins, a blood pressure problem...any number of things. Don't stop taking your vitamins without talking to your doctor first, or if you do make sure you are getting 100% dv of folic acid to avoid some serious birth defects. (look for it in cereals or other vitamins). I would try to avoid taking tylenol if I were you. Remember that any medicine you take your baby takes too, an an adult dose of that drug may be toxic to the fetus. If the headaches are so bad that you need to continue to take tylenol I would get to your doctor right away to make sure that 1 you don't have any pregnancy complications causing the headaches and 2 you aren't doing the baby any damage by taking the tylenol.

Good luck and congrats!

They can vary a little. I had gotten some at Wal-Mart before my doctor sent me the prescription and the cheap ones actually made me more constipated than the prescription ones. Everyone's different though. I have good insurance, so I don't mind paying the $4 for a month's worth of prescription prenatals, but if price is a concern, I would bet the OTC ones are fine.

Are you drinking enough water??? I wasn't getting enough water and was getting lots of headaches.

Also, I was taking Natafort during my two pregnancies, and they made me SICK. I would get so queasy in the stomach. Probably one of the B complex vitamins in the Natafort. I also get that way with One a Day Women's. SO, I take Flinstone's Chewables and have no problem. Check with your Dr to see if you can switch vitamins. Good luck.

are you drinking plenty of water? dehydration can cause headaches as well as irritability. could be because your pregnant. all pregnancy's are different. are you drinking anything with caffeine? you do need to keep taking your prenatal until you speak with your gyn. i would check with your doctor over how much Tylenol in a 24 hour period is safe for baby. and on a continuous run that you are doing for your headaches.

Do you have an OB? I remember that headaches can be a symptom of pregnancy, but I don't remember why. Go buy What To Expect When You're Expecting, and if you ever have ANY questions about symptoms your having, or something just doesn't feel right, call your doctor. It just isn't worth the risk.

if you think its the vitamins take flinstone vitamins instead. they are great for you when you are pregnant. i hate prenatal vitamins and they are hard to swallow so my doctor told me to take a flinstone vitamin once a day and if that doesnt help tell your doctor cuz taking tylonal all the time isnt good for you or the baby. and remember to drink lots of water. that could help to.

Definitely tell your doctor. It could be caused by a number of things... including the prenatal vitamins... dehydration... elevated blood-pressure... many things. Hopefully he/she will be able to help you find the root cause.

Best wishes and congratulations!
