If you were finding the factor of 10 for an example, the factors would be the numbers you multiply to make 10. So 1, 2, 5, 10 are the factors of 10.

Example:

1x10=10 (1,10)
2x5=10 ( 2, 5)

hope it helps

Basically it means breaking down something into smaller or simpler form. But it depends on what you're talking about. If you're just talking about the factors of a number, it's all the numbers that divide evenly into a number. For example, the factors of 8 would be 1, 2, 4 and 8. The factors of 7 would be 1 and 7. The factors of 12 would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.

A "factor pair" are the two numbers multiplied to produce a product.

ie. 3 * 4 = 12 (3 & 4 are a factor pair or 12)

when you have all the factor pairs, then you will have all of the factors.

factors of:
12 [ 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12]

24 [ 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24]

25 [ 1, 5, 25 ]

(note that 5 *5 =25, but 5 only shows up once in the list of factors)

factors are numbers which are multiples of a given number....say....number 2 is a factor of 4 ( because 2x2=4) or 2 still a factor of 6 (coz 2x3=6)....get it?
