I think you can make a website without a domain name. Like on myspace.
On the other hand if you want a traditional website with your own URL, then a domain name is best.

No, a domain is a .com/.org/.net address that points the way to your website url

Your website url with comcast will be www.comcast.net/~yourusername/

Just use an ftp (or the one in FP) to upload the web page to your comcast web space.

In theory, no you don't need a Domain Name to have a website.
However, your users will have to get accustomed to typing in something like http://86.10.23.4:80/default.aspx

There are some sites that will host your webpage for free on their domains (such as Yahoo). However, you will have to put up with ads, limited bandwidth and monthly transfers, and no server-side controls.
