This stems from an episode of America's Next Top Model where this contestant who lives not to far from my city made comments that showed she had no idea about the world or ppl around her...... disturbed me......

No, and I hope y'all don't think white people are all what's portrayed on shows like that, too. It amazes me that there's so much ignorance in the world. All you have to do to correct these assumptions is look around and pay attention, you know?

I know I don't, but I know more black people from my family, friends, and co-worker, then I even SEE on TV. Those channels show us in some of the most negative ways and call it black entertainment. The only good thing that use to be on BET was Tavis Smiley and he left because he wouldn't TONE DOWN his shows to be PC for the network. By the way BET is owned by viacom a predominately white company so for the people saying there shouldn't be a black entertainment channel there actally isn't. I know I'm not entertained.

Surely you don't think all white people are like that ignorant contestant on a "reality" TV show! That would be sort of like white people thinking black people are like characters on TV shows. I am white, and I have black neighbors, and continuous contact with black, brown, and people of all other races and colors and ages during the course of my day, at work and away from work. The beauty of it all is that no one person is the same as any other, regardless of race, ethnic origin, or age.

I hope ppl don't think of African American or hispanic people in the light that the media has us potrayed. If u look at movies our races usually have the sterio typical homeboy roles. My husband is African-American Soldier in the Army serving our country hard and proud and I'm a mexican latina and I'm a flight attemdant supervisor for AA. It disturbs me as well that ppl think that if you have color to your skin you must be ignorant. it's sad

No, I know you are not all the same. Each and every one of you is a different individual with a unique personality like the rest of mankind and only a minority of blacks fits the stereotypes and image displayed on TV.

well I hardly see nothing but white people on MTV, and I hardly see nothing but blacks on BET. I do not care about which race is on a certain television channel. We should stop searching for each others race. Every time I watch BET my cousin tries his hardest to see if their is a white person on their, and if he See's one he gets angry and Say's BET is for black people not white people, so why are their white people on BET. I look at him and shake my head. I have told him time to time, that White people, Spanish people, etc. Are all human and no race is worse nor are they better. I don't tell him that anymore, because he will never get it so I move on. Anyway see people and not color, be color blind.

no....why? do you? i guess it would be easy to say dont worry about it...........cause what you can you do really. you can write a letter of complaint. at least your voice will be heard. if you do nothing i know one things for sure will happen...nothing. but what would i do if it were native people being portrayed as indian princess or stoic warrior....or drunk on skid row. i guess i would get upset. i would probably write a letter. at least i got it off my chest. and maybe a few other people had wrote or said something too. so maybe us united might make the difference. hard to say. but if we all did nothing.......nothing would happen. least inside where it counts. good luck

the ones that make it on television are the ones that fit the sterotype. its sad because we sometimes fall for it. it's pretty much a sad, sad circle.

but i'll have u know that i'm black and not sterotypically. its kinda funny because when i meet black guys, they come at me a certain way and expect me to respond the way the females do on tv...but then they hear me use proper grammar and they're like "woah?".

close minded idiots.
