Most barbs are very active and nippy. Tiger barbs are among the worst. If your guppies have long tails they won't for long - the barb will probably nip at and damage them. I would remove the barb into another tank. The only other option is to get a school of Barbs if your tank is big enough. This is really how Barbs should be kept, anyway. In a school of five or six barbs of the same kind they tend to school with each other and ignore the other fish in the tank.

As the others said above me barbs are an aggressive fish they will chase the guppies all day long. I would suggest getting another tank for the guppies or they could possibly die.

Take your barb back to the pet store and get some mollies instead. The barb will not stop and tends to be happier in a group of barbs.

They say you aint suppose to mix fish because the one would kill the other I think you should get another tank put the guppies in one tank and the barb in another.
