Thanks for the info an im glad that it dont mean my car is hot lol an i tried the sites that one guy provided an both said i needed 17 digits when i tried entering the vin from my buick so i guess ill have to either try the dealership or the dmv cause id like to know the past history of it cause i know its a rare car cause they didnt make many in those 3 yrs an didnt make many cars with the sports copue package as well.

Anna is WRONG. Josh is correct. ALL vehicles 1980 to current have 17 digit VINs. ALL vehicles 1979 and prior have lower number of digits. As far as being able to track the vehicle history, that will require a little bit of detective work on your part. Hope this helps.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aOgbT
Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.
You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

Older vehicles do have shorter VIN's. The 13 digit sounds right for your '77 Buick. You may want to check CarFax to see if they can trace a history on an older car.
http://www.carfax.com/
and NADA offers a VIN interpretation as well.
