You could consider that any of the ten commandments were a command against selfishness. What the commandments expected was to follow the will of God, not your own will, which by nature is sinful and self-serving.

I think selfishness is the root of all great sins. For example, senseless killing of millions of people is one of the world's hugest sins today, and it stems from selfishness, not caring about other people, and putting your own well being and agenda above the well-being and livelihood of others.
