Joe Niekro pitched for the Tigers in the early 70's
Phil Niekro pitched for the Bluejays in 1987

You are probably thinking about Al Leiter and Mark Leiter who more than likely pitched against each other in the early 90's.

Mark played for theTigers from 1991-1993
Al played for the Bluejays from 1989-1995

It is possible that in 1993 the two faced off. Al had 12 starts that season and Mark had 13.

The Underwood's more than likely pitched against each other in 1979 because both had a significant number of starts.

Tim Worrell had just 9 starts for the Tigers but it was in 1998...Todd Worrell never pitched in Detroit or Toronto.
