End of 2007 to Rafael Nadal.
Nadal will most likely win French and Australian Open next year.
Federer will win the US and Wimbledon.
It will depend on the smaller tournament results and Nadal has a head to head advantage over Federer.

Roger Federer is the "Greatest Tennis Player of All Time" and will set new world records in every category.
While no one can know exactly when Roger will lose his No.1 ranking, I'm sure he'll set a new world record in this category as well.
The truth is, Roger is FAR BETTER than any tennis player that has ever lived. A big reason for this success is that Roger continuously works on improving his technique instead of focusing solely on winning.
While there will always be tennis fans that will complain that watching the same person win all the time is boring, Roger's technique is so beautiful that most tennis fans will delight in watching him until the day he retires.
Indeed, Roger Federer is the most complete tennis player of all time. I can only hope that tennis players of the future will follow Roger's lead and try to improve their weaknesses instead of just focusing on their strengths.
There's a great saying: "You're only as good as your weakest link".
Nothing could be truer.

2009. Although he has a huge point lead, #1 ranking is very easy to lose. If you know the way rankings work, he'll have to defend his ranking points at each event he's won or done well (which is a lot!!). If he wins the same event next year, he doesn't get extra points; if he loses a couple of rounds earlier (i.e. R2 in Cincy this year) he loses a couple of hundred points.
This year has been his best and there's not a lotta tournaments left for him to go rack up points next year. Roger will lose his #1 ranking as early as late '08, but probably '09 when he fails to defend titles or begin loosing in 3rd and 4th round in a just couple of tournaments.

Roger Federer is on his third year as a run away World's number one player. He has been most recently hailed by media as one of the greatest tennis players.
Unless the 'youngsters' get their acts and minds together-meaning--getting 'into the shoes' and mind of Federer-the Swiss legend will have an easy stay in the pinnacle of tennis success.
Roger could easily erase all the records set by equal legends.
Half decade more is a conservative estimate for Roger to stay on top, unless Andy Murray will be tamed by Brad Gilbert in his erratic and emotional play--unless also uncle Toni Nadal could inculcate in the mind of his nephew Rafael Nadal that not only the overflowing energy that wins Slam title but also the conservation of 'this' energy to win tightier matches in the critical last days of almost two-weeks of playing in the hard and grass courts.

I hope that he retires as #1. But if anyone can knock him out it would be Nadal, and that wouldn't hurt my feelings at all. They are both HOT and I can't think of anything better than watch two of the best tennis players in the world and be that good looking. He still has a long way to go to beat Sampras who by the way is Federer's idol!! Good luck to him and god bless that fine booty!!!

he never will. tennis will realize that no one will ever be able to beat him, therefore that will give him the all-time #1 ranking and from then on, everyone else will have to play for #2. haha, not realy, but the way he plays, i could see it.
