Absolutely. You wouldn't be a suitable parent if u werent nervous how to take care of such a little joy. But when u see that loving little person look up at you for the first time, all your fears vanish and u cant believe that u actually made that. You'll both be learning together: He'll be learning new things ever day like his/her surroundings, etc, and you'll be learning hwo to take care of him day by day too. Don't worry, he will let u know what he needs :)

Yes it is completely normal to be scared. Here's some free advice.
1. Pick your battles, don't fret the small stuff.
2. they will get bumps and bruises, it is impossible to prevent every one.
3. Being a parent is very humbling, especially when you're outsmarted by a 3 year old.
4. it is the greatest job you'll ever have. Just keep tell yourself that.
5. It does get easier in a way yet it will also get more complicated.
6. take it one day at a time, be spontaneous, it is difficult to plan anything, especially being intimate with your signifcant other.
7. you will learn a lot. Be open.
Yeah you are responsible for a life and that is intimidating but once they smile at you, even if it is only a fart, it is all worth it. Yes babies smile when they fart, it is a reflex.

Congrats Daddy.. I am pregnant and gonna be a first time mommy. I'm excited but scared outta my mind. My fiancee has a child already so he isn't as scared. My brother is 19 and his girlfriend just had her baby and she was induced do we had the birth planned. He got up that morning and looked awful. He didn't get that much sleep. He started gagging and said he was gonna be sick. I had to give him one of my nausea pills. he was pacing the hallway during delivery. He started having chest pains and had a nose bleed, he has never had a nose bleed. It was funny now that I think about it. Poor thing. But when the baby came he was the first to hold it and i was waiting for him to get sick cause the baby was still slimy but he just took her and from that moment I seen my brother grow up and I was so proud of him. no one could hardly get him to let her go. Shes now 2 weeks old and he is doing a great job. You will too, I promise... Good Luck..

Normal? Probably. Warrented? Not at all. My two kids were recently born, and it has been better than I thought it would be, and I'm an optimist. Now I do have a great deal of patience with almost all things, so that helps a great deal, but kids are pretty cool, and very fun. My two kids are two and three, so they are at the youngest ages basically were you can "conversate" with them and try to "picture" their ideas and get a feel for how they think. It's great, don't be scared, enjoy this time and the wonderful time of your life you are entering.

That is absolutely normal! It's a huge change in your life. Check out www.newdads.com they have lots of great stuff, including an awesome book called "Hit the Ground Crawling" It's written by dads, for new dad and soon-to-be dads.
I got a copy for my dh and he wants to buy a heap more to give to his friends when they become dads.
Goodluck and enjoy the ride!

It absolutely is!! I know it sounds bad, but when my son was born, I would not hold him for a week because i was afraid that i was going to hold him to tight, or hold his head the right way. I f you are a soon to be dad and you are not scared, THEN SOMETHING IS WRONG!! LOL Congradulations, and good luck. P.S. You will have this fear for at least the next 18 years

Congratulations! Yes, it's perfectly normal to be scared.
On the way home from the hospital with our son my husband said "I don't know about you, but I'm scared to death". I will never forget those words and how he said them.
You are going to be responsible for a little life and it is overwhelming, but people have been doing it for 1,000's of years. You will be just fine. Just the fact that you're here asking about it shows that you care. I think you're going to do great. :-)
