There is always room for new friends. Chances are, your old friends have not forgotton you, they are just moving on to a new chaper. You should do the same. Your reunions will be great if there are no hard feelings.

If someone is really your friend you will both make an effort to stay in contact. It's not easy to keep in touch when distance is a factor and there are a lot of new things going on in a person's life. If you find that the person can't seem to find enough time to respond to an e-mail after a month or so or they don't return your phone calls then they probably have moved on. A lot of people are friends of convience. If you were right there and it was easy, then they would hang out with you. If they have to actually don something like work at it then they won't bother. Those are the types of friends you can do without.

People that go off to college don't forget about the old friends, not intentionally. But they are in college and the friends they might make there are because those are the ones they see on a everyday basis. To remain friends with your old crew, find a way to stay in touch with them. If your friendship was strong and solid, it should be easy to maintain even while away.

People mess up old friendships when they try to hold on too tight and make it "like it used to be." It's better to adjust to the new life and send a letter sometimes or make a phone call to your old friends whenever you're in town. I'd assume so, anyway.
