I live in Texas and I'm thinking if I don't get into a Nursing school, I can study to be a pharmacy technician. Iread a few facts and other stuff on line but I want personal opinions from people who already are pharmacy technicians (or know someone who are pharmacy technicians). Do you enjoy your job? Is the pay good? (I know a pharmacy technician doesn't earn a lot but do you think you get paid the amount you deserve according to the work you do?) Are your hours good? Do you plan on advancing on this field?

Pharmacy techs do not get paid much. The highest I ever heard a regular pharm tech getting paid is about $12-$13 per hour and at a busy pharmacy are always busy. The only type of advancing you can do is to become a senior tech or a certified tech. You will never be able to get into management. Techs get stuck doing all the grunt work. They are vulnerable to losing their jobs if the technology changes. Many techs have to work evenings and weekends.

Going for the drugstore technician first could in all probability purely be a waste of time. It would not pay properly adequate which you would be waiting to shop lots and make a dent in how lots college is going to value, and you will no longer probably study adequate to make it useful. purely bypass start up the pre-pharm instructions extremely.
