My girlfriend's daughter guenia pig died tha other day. My girlfriend thinks it's because she baths the guenia pig bout once every 2 weeks. Can that be true?

No you can bath them once a week ..... Just depends on what it was being bathed with ... I owned 2 and bathed them and never had a problem ....They make a special shampoo for them or you can use original dawn dish liquid....it may have had a health problem or something else, might have had nothing to do with the bathing...they are prone to having heart attacks.

It is safe to bathe a Guinea Pig. Use warm water and a tiny bit of baby shampoo. Rinse well, towel dry, and avoid letting him get chilled or sit in a draft. The baths didn't kill the guinea pig. It could have been many other things. How old was it? What was diet? Etc.

Yes you can bathe guinea pigs but once every two weeks is way too often unless it gets very dirty somehow. I don't think it died directly from bathing it, but maybe from skin irratation from the shampoo, or a chill from being too wet and cold. If she gets another guinea pig be sure to buy a book on them and become more knowledgable before purchasing one.

The average life span of a guinea pig is five and half years. They are social animals, so either handle it alot, or get it a friend. They do get lonely. Also, guinea pigs need extra vitamin c to survive, so give it oranges and/or strawberries, they love em. I have a guinea pig, and I always give her the leftover fresh veggies. If she don't like it, she won't eat it. All you can do is try.

you're able to easily bath a guinea pig as quickly as to 2 times a month anymore and you will worsen the guinea pig's pores and skin and reason it to lose that is organic oils and would desire to reason it to strengthen dry pores and skin.

you can bathe a piggie. but a bath every week :O. all she needed was to change the cage and the piggie should smell like the cage when it is clean. maybe the piggie was sick or caught a bad cold during the winter time. or prolly the piggie didn't show any symptoms of any illness. but taking it a bath doesn't hurt them. it makes them hate you for getting them wet.

i dont think it died from bathing. i had guinea pigs when i was younger and i bathed them, seems to me that when one would die it was very suddenly.i'm very sorry to hear about the loss!

yes you can bathe a guinea pig, although every 2 wks may be overdoing it. I seriously doubt that's what killed it.
