That is why monied people provide jobs--it helps people, but the people have to literally work at it to do so. Getting the job may be a gift, but keeping it is work.

If you do want to help the needy but do not want to play God then help them by BECOMING one of them. There are plenty of NGO charities around the world which place you within a community working alongside them for the benefit not only of themselves but also you as a temporary part of that community. Failing that you could sponsor some of my ideas (grin) to help benefit others without any arrogance. Good people who have the resources dont think, they act. They dont ponder about what they may appear to be, they just become the change they want to see in the world.

give it to the needy. everyday around the world many children starve to death and die from preventable diseases. if you have a lot of money that would save money lives. whether or not you play god by doing so seems pretty irrelevant. imagine being in the situation of a child in malawi or someplace who's dying from want of $1 vaccines or cheap food. then imagine a rich person refusing to help because they "don't want to play god." obsessions with avoiding egotism are a luxury.

i think that this is what you were asking. if not, then i'm sorry for misunderstanding.

If you have a lot of money, you can still spend some of it on yourself-just don't go overboard. :D If I had a lot of money, I would only buy myself a small house and give the rest to charity, maybe actually go to the poorest countries and help, like through Peace Corps. or something. Or I would start my own foundation or an organization/scholarship fund.

If it is a large amount of money, get a financial adviser and get advise on how to save a good portion of it by put ting some in IRA/Roth Accounts, some in CD, some in stocks/bonds/mutual funds. Invest in a house, car and education. And, of course, save some to have fun with - like a dream vacation.

I do not think that you have to give large or small sums to the needy, unless you want to, until you have financially taken care of yourself.

Why do you think that helping other people out finacialy would be like playing God ? Thats a rediculouse statement !
I think you know what you want to do with'the money' already so why are you really making this statement ?

I had a similar problem, however one night the answers came to me like water from a hose. Set up a college fund, one worthy of your name and goals.
I set up a fund for my youngest daughter, one that is revenue producing yet tax sheltered and based on the desire to attend college. It remains in your control, just in case, yet inspires youth to seek higher education.
Make your focus unique from the other funds, and choose a deserving youth group. Choose a sport fund if you want.
I am sure you get my drift.

Maybe you can set up a fund to teach spelling to the users of Yahoo answers.

buy you a bible & hire someone to read it to you & when it comes to the part where it comands you to give all your money & posessions to the poor, then thats where i come in. The bible teaches also for us to thank those who pay us alms deeds, so I thank you ahead of time. Give me (the poor) a call when you find the this comandment.

I AM A SINGLE PARENT, AND I AM TRYING TO DO IT ALL THESE DAYS, AND QUITE HONESTLY, IAM GETTING BURNED OUT. THE BILLS ARE PILING UP AT THE REST., I OWE THE IIIRS 10000 DOLLARS AND IF I DONT PAY THEM SOON, THEY ARE GOING TO GO AFTER OUR ASSETS. I WOULD REPAY YOU WITH A LEGITAMATE AGREEMENT. I AM DESPARATE, AND I WILL NOT GO TO MY FAMILY OR FRIEND BECAUSE I HAVE TO MUCH PRIDE AND I DONT WANT THEM TO THINK IM FAILING. I KNOW THIS IS AN ODD REQUEST. I AM HONEST AS THE DAY IS LONG AND I WOULD NOT EVER THINK OF DOING YOU WRONG. IM JUST TO PROUD TO ASK ANYONE FOR HELP WHO KNOWS ME.
