This question was ask six days ago by Alex. Some of the answers were filled with so much anger and pain, I thought it should be reposted. After reading some of these responces by people whos husbans/wife,boyfriends or girl friends had mis-treated them in the name of love, or just taking them for granted, made me think about the way I act & treat my girl friend? It opened my eyes, and made me want to be a better man.

If you actually wanted to stay home with your family and showed that you cared about them maybe you would have better luck staying married.

I was married 29 years before filing for divorce because my ex cheated several times. I've been divorced for 2 1/2 years now and the one thing I would tell him would be: "Forgive yourself because I have already forgiven you."
LIFE GOES ON!!!!!!!
I don't hate him and I pray that someday he gets himself together and finds someone that he can be happy with and true to.
I have two wonderful children as a result of that marrage.
I just knew I didn't want to be his wife any longer and I have no regrets about my decision.

I would tell him that I'm sorry for hurting him. I would thank him for standing by me through so many difficult times. I would wish him a happy life with his wife and little girl. I would explain that it wasn't his fault it ended, we were just too young and weren't ready for that kind of commitment. I would tell him that he is a good man and that I was lucky to have him be a part of my life for so long.

My ex bf whom I considered my husband left last week...I want to know how leaving your 2 small children (ages 1 & 2) helps you be a better father and role model to them..How you can sleep at night knowing that you thought I was so awful to live with but left your children with me????

I would make him understand that lyign to me and isolating me from my family was not the way to keep me. I would tell him that he has come very close to ruining my life and the lives of our kids and I cannot forgive him for that. I would tell him that no amount of threats or begging will get me to change my mind. I would tell him that being alone forever is preferable to a guilded cage full of resentment, fear and abuse.

I had the opportunity to talk to my ex one last time. I told him I'm sorry things didn't work out and I have no bitterness or ill feelings towards him whatsoever. I wished him well, much happiness and success always and no matter what he does or where he goes....take care now.

Unfortunately i no longer wish to say anything to him.. as he has not only killed me emotionally but our children.. my older son still hopes for a day that his dad will change and want to actually be more a part of his life then once in a blue moon.. but its been 10 years so i doubt that will ever change..

but years ago , when i still was rittled with pain..

I wanted to ask him what did i do wrong, as i could of never loved any man more then i loved him.. i litterally kissed the ground he walked on.. what did i do or not do that made him want another woman .. especially since he was the one that pushed the issue of getting married, when i was set up to go to college, he said i could go to college later after we were married.. but that never happened.. we have 2 kids together, and one is chronically/terminally ill, and he walked away for me to deal with it all by myself.. I would wonder how much it must of took to hate me so much to hurt someone as badly as he did me and not even care.. and id wonder how it feels to know a woman loved him so much that through all the pain caused to me and our children i still wished and prayed for 7 years after our divorce that he would of come back to us.. back then i wanted to know how much it took for him to be so much of a coward that i was the one that had to look into our childrens crying eyes and try to explain his actions of why their dad wont come to see them.. and how he could promise to call his child and to know his son would fall asleep night after night next to the phone waiting for his dad to call him.. I would want to ask him.. How does it feel to have such a cold and black heart to hurt ur own flesh and blood the way he has..

BUT..today, Id love to thank him.. Because of him..leaving.. I found a wonderful man that loves me more then my x ever could, and is a DAD to mine and my x's children, he's stepped up to the plate because their dad cant seem to.. so through all the pain, i can see he did us a favor by leaving because we (my kids and i) NEEDED AND DESERVED A REAL MAN!!!!!! and now we have one..

This is interesting. I would want to tell him that I am very sorry for hurting him the way I did. I never did it with the intent to hurt him, however, as is often the case, the hurt was the unintended consequence.

It would be, why did you always jump down my throat everytime I asked you a question. Why didn't you ever help with the children. Why didn't you ever sit down and talk to me about anything. Why did you stay in your own little world and never let me in. Those are just a few I would ask...................

That I forgive her for all the hell she put me through during the marriage, and after the divorce.....not for her, but for me. I need the relief of forgiving her. I'm working on doing that too.
