Recently I heard that even if both are guys you need to use condoms.

But when I was in school (finished last year) the only thing I ever heard condoms were for, from my parents or at school, was to prevent pregnancy, so why exactly would you have to use them if you both are guys...?

Not to be harsh, but if you don't know the answer to that, please don't have sex.

Because their are lots of diseases out their
AIDS,Syphilis's,Gonorrhea etc. Now let me tell you one thing Syphilis's and Gonorrhea is curable, but AIDS is life threatening. Now their is a new one out their called HPV, and no matter if you where a condom or not you can still get it. From all of the skin of the penis not covered by a condom. A condom should cover all of the penis. Anyway put yourself at lower risk, because condoms are the best protection we have in America. I will also tell you the best protection too, not having sex and waiting till your married. In your case your gay and I don't know what part of the United States you in to allow you to get married. Just wait till you find someone you really love, then go get tested wait 6 months, then go get tested again. Then you guys can get ready for sex. If you mind to read a couple of books in your time you would know, Anal sex which is having sex through the rectum is the most dangerous sex position known to man. I read that in an AIDS book back in High school.

OK here's the deal you are definitely right on asking this question why do they have to wear condoms since they are just two guys and one of them cannot become pregnant, but there is such a word called STD which means Sexually Transmitted Disease. To prevent from one guy getting one, an example of one is AIDS, they both wear condoms so that they can be protected against such diseases like AIDS. I hope I answer your question =)

Lack of knowledge of what was was taught or not taught in your high school sex education class. Condoms are designed to prevent std's and aids. When worn for anal sex they prevent spread of aids. The school must have avoided the issues of gay sex.

AIDS has the possibility to completely exterminate all sexually active male homosexuals if they do not use protection. It can and does spread like wildfire, especially among men that practice unsafe group sex and do drugs before or while having sex. Encouraging safe sex and condom use is very important for the gay male community right now, because the fools who don't use them are the ones that already HIV + or will get it eventually.

Your school sex ed sucked. Don't be offended by that, because many schools' sex ed sucks. Local yokels are always trying to keep kids from hearing life-saving information like this.

AIDS and other STDs are *huge* issues.

By the way, Foxy, if you've ever heard of "abstinence-only" or "abstinence plus" sex, um, education, it's very possible. Girls at least have teen magazines that publish helpful information, but there aren't teen boy magazines.

well, go to a supermarket, buy a condom, tear it out, put it on your dick (as per instruction found in package), before having intercourse with another guy/girl. This is to prevent inserting semen into a girl (so she won't get pregnant) and to prevent making scratches on your dick when you having fun with another guy. The scratches will allow virus to get in your body, for example, like AIDS.

Your question is the perfect illustration of the current failings of sex education in schools.

YOU NEED CONDOMS TO STOP GETTING SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES!!!!!
STDs are passed on between gays and heteros during intercourse, they vary from herpes, crabs, chlamydia, gonorrhea, to syphilis, hepatitis and HIV infection. This list is not complete.
HIV is incurable and unless you can afford the very expensive meds you die when the infection progresses to AIDS.
HIV is mostly passed on by intercourse, needle sharing, contaminated blood and extensive contact with infected body fluids.
Some of these diseases are also passed on by other forms of contact, but using a condom will help you reduce your chances of getting them.
