My sister just went and she spent $5000.00 on it. it depends on where you live and if you hire in with a company who will pay your tution fees off. Some will sign a contract to pay your tution fees after so much time with them. Some companies it is as few as 6 months. Most of the time you do not have to pay an up front fee.

Most large companies either have their own school or have contracts with driving schools. It takes an average of 2-3 weeks to learn enough to pass thetest. That does NOT mean you know what it is to be a truck driver! Here in Oklahoma it's $65 for the actual CDL, plus a little more for each endorsement. The background check for HazMat is $94 and that is REQUIRED for all CDL drivers who wish to carry a HazMat endorsement. It involves fingerprints and a federal background check.
Why don't YOU get your CDL as well? Originally my wife just wanted to ride when I drove but I made her go through the school with me as well. Best decision financially I have ever made. :-)

RE:
How much does it cost to get a CDL (including training and testing)?
My boyfriend wants his CDL - he doesn't own a truck to learn on.

Will it depends in which state you live in. I do the training for my company, we don't charge for the training, and the cost of the CDL is up to the student to pay for. By the time all is said and done and the student has there license in there pocket. Just under $200.00 But please remember, this price may diffrer from state to state and some companys charge for this also. For training...... Vehicle use..... books ...etc...
P.S If he can fine a good company to take him under there wings and train him that's the best way..... Good Luck to your Boyfriend

I went through Schneider National. they paid for my training plus hotel room. My cdl cost $65.00 plus $10 for each endorsement, ie, hazmat, doubles, etc. You have to commit with them for 1 year and if you leave before that year you have to pay them back but it is in reasonable installments. You dont need your own truck you would be a company driver

Last year, I tested in Illinois and it was about $60.
The training was paid since I was training with the bus company.
It should only take a few days in training, then a 45 minute test.

Depends on what state he lives in. Check with the local DMV and inquire at driving schools for CDL
