Humans have adapted, but have you ever noticed that no matter how cold it gets when we freeze the insects are always here at spring time.

If you were always led to believe something and then you found it otherwise your view may change. Eg if you found out every indian woman was raped by a white man and this was still practiced today, wouldn't that change your view of the world. History is often tainted in our favour.
PS thats not true its just a hypothetical

It's called the future and education. If children are taught to believe a certain thing never happened (or did) they'll believe it and act on that belief later in life. Think of it this way, if the Holocaust never "happened" or if the dropping of the A-bomb never "happened", what would our government be doing now? I recommend the book "1984" by Orwell for you to read.
Perception is reality.

It depends on what view of the past, you are changing.
If you think the past is important, you will try and be a better person in the present, so the future is better.

That's what revisionist historians and left wing social engineers have been trying for forty years. For some of us, they lies told don't speak as loud as the visible truth.
