i downloaded a song that is aac audio and i would like to know how to convert it to mp3 format

AAC stands for advanced audio coding. Here's the wikipedia entry on the subject.

Changing any audio to another format requires some kind of conversion software. Itunes is a free way to do this, QuickTime will do it for Pro registration. iTunes will allow you to do batch conversion, meaning you can convert a large number of files all at once.

If you have iTunes, right-click on the song title, and the menu that pops up should give you the option to convert the file to mp3.

aac i belive is apples format for there ipod u need to get a convertor to switch it from aac to mp3 did u download it from itunes????
