That's pretty normal for a Catholic school. If you want to not have a dress code, convince your parents to let you attend a more liberal (or public) school.
Dress codes are nice because they equalize everyone. People pay less attention on what they are going to wear, and more attention on school. It also prepares you for real life, where your job will most likely have a dress code. At my job, I have to wear black boots, grey pants, a navy blue dress shirt, blue undershirt, and black belt. How's that for strict :)
Hope you have a nice day!

I don't think that's strict, I think that's sensible.
Why do you need hoop or dangling earrings? They look ugly/stupid on 99% of all people that wear them.
Is there a reason why you need to be showing off your immature cleavage? Your parents are paying for you to attend, the least you could do is pay attention to the lessons rather than how much you can show off to the boys.
I highly doubt they are *that* tight. Unless you come home everyday with blue and numb feet, your shows are fine.
Again, that's only sensible. Most people without backs on their shoes walk slower than everyone else. Therefore, they are quite likely to get trod on and then how do they react? An upset tsk and a backward glare as if it's the walker's fault that person is too stupid to wear something that will protect their dainty little feet.
Short skirts and shorts look slutty. That's not exactly a good Catholic girl, now is it?
You make it sound like your ankle is directly under your knee! MOST socks are designed this way and unless you have a foot fetish, I don't see why you need to have a little tantrum over it.
And this isn't coming from some old hag. I'm sixteen and have enough sense to understand why they're doing this. Grow up, kid, and maybe you will too.

They are strict for the same reasons that you're bitching about. If they allow you to dress anyway you want, teenagers in all their wisdom (pun intended) will go overboard as to what is acceptable in the real world (not MTV's).
They are actually giving you a break from wearing your uniform, and instead of finding something in your closet that meets the criteria, you would rather whine about it.
Grow-up little girl, life only gets harder...

HELL YEA!!!!!!
I think that's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nerdy looking!!!
(but i do agree with the shoes being tied tightly {unless u have 2 tie them SOO tight that u can't untie them, of course [i HATE that, grrr!!!!]})
and the thing about shirts above the collar bone is MORE than A LITTLE on the RIICULOUS side (eww, I HATE turtlenecks!!!)
try convencing ur mom 2 send u to another skewl.
i go 2 a private skewl (my first year there [i've nvr been 2 private skewl be4 this]), and the dress code is a lot like in public skewl (no uniforms!!!!!!! yay!!!! =D *does happy dance*), so u could try 2 find something like that if the public skewls aren't really good in ur area. trust me, it's SOOO cool

WAAAAH. Yeah come on, even indigenous tribes in the wazoo region of the amazon know what CATHOLIC SCHOOL DRESS CODE means!
Ask your parents why you are going there. I'm sure they'll come up with all sorts of reasons that wont make sense to you, but they sure will to everyone that's replying to your post!

I agree too strick...and I had to wear a uniform going to school...even we could wear hoops or dangling earings and we were able to wear slip on shoes sort of like loafers. But one thing has not changed socks above the ankle bone.

most definatly not!!!! most of those "too strict" rules are my own personal preference. i dont wear anything more than 3 inches above my knees out in public if it can be helped.
really, those rules are to preserve a sense of modesty. you are at school to learn, not find out who looks hot in a mini-skirt.

No. They simply want you to look appropriate and they don't want you distracted by worrying about what you and everyone else looks like.
Of course, you could go to PUBLIC school and ditch the dress code altogether!
