I'm Canadian. For example, why not open the border to Canadian workers? With 12 million illegals in the U.S., very few of who are Canadian, it might be the only fair thing to do anyways?
I mean Canada and the U.S. were united under the British, and without the Revolution, the British naturally would have included Canada in the U.S.

The U.S./Canada border is not "open". Only about 6000 Americans immigrate to Canada each year, out of 250 000 immigrants. Source: www.cic.gc.ca/english/pub/facts2005/permanent/12.html

So MotherBe, the U.S. should take over the 13 colonies from the natives, the Mississipi valley from the French, the Louisiana Purchase from the French, the Pacific NorthWest from the natives, 1/2 of Mexico, Alaska from Russia, so why stop at Canada?????

Break Canada into 10 independant provinces and the U.S. into 50 independant states with no movement of people???

Lazy Ike, yes, Canada would have to give up the monarchy, but the U.S. in exhange could join the 54 nation Commenwealth. The Queen is the head of state of Canada, and the Govenor General, her representative.

That is the 100 dollar question. I truly don't understand what is
going on, with this illegal stuff. Why it is permitted. ftp.gov
left side, supposedly there is a file or tab that discusses a North American economy. The joining of U.S. Canada, Mexico under one currency no border. I think the idea is Canada's resources,
Americas technology and Mexico's chepa labor. But I am skeptical of all of this. I lived in Canada for 8 years, know some good friends that would move south if they could. We let illegals in, but not Canadians....Good Luck.

I don't think a union is necessary. We get along well enough separately. We have lots of trade, we cooperate on defense, and we get along very well for two neighbors with such a long shared border.
We could have even more economic cooperation without having to become politically united. More free trade agreements along the lines of NAFTA or the Common Market could allow free flow of labor without giving Canadians a vote on American matters or vice versa.

Canada is a sovereign nation and there is no need to 'attract' Canada into the Union. Canada and the United States are members of NAFTA and some of the issues you raise are already being addressed.

Wonderfully put. I have no idea why are English speaking brethren are not trying to recruit Canadians to the country. We speak the same language, our universities are as good as theirs, we are worth going for. My parents moved to the United States 10 years ago but it was because of business with a company. The United States did not try to recruit them to make their country stronger economically. Considering both my parents have masters degrees that is a mistake.

You are quite capable of pulling up roots to support Mr. Bush, you don't need Canada's permission to leave...just make sure you don't need your free healthcare anymore. Canada has just as much opportunity as the US...checked out Alberta lately?

Canadians and their inferiority complex prevent such a move. But the Western Provinces probably will leave the confederation and become part of the US one day. The more tax money that travels frrom the Western Provinces to the East the soone this will happen.
Also Canada has such weak security measures when it comes to Muslim immigrants that I applaud the US Border agencies being extra cautious in examining Canadians "visiting" the US.

Maybe there is something wrong in my thinking, but I for one, and most people I know would be totally disgusted with a traitor like you . Please go and don't come back. I enjoy living in a free nation.

if your sooo keen on being part of the USA then apply for a green card. Talk about a RED COAT, most Canadians would be appalled by your suggestion.

Because contrary to popular belief, we're *not* trying to take over everything. We love our Canadian neighbors just the way they are.
