I tried Midol but it doesn't make me feel very good and I question what ill effects it has on my stomach. What do you do to make the intense pain subside??? Sometimes mine gets so bad I want to cry!

Exercise...biking, rollerblading, even walking. It always helps me. .... OR.... sit with a heating pad on your tummy, that will help also.

I know exactly what you feel, the pain is soooo horrible!! Midol doesn't work at all, i hate it!! it makes me feel dizzy. It's hard to control cramps but let me tell you, my doctor put me on birth control pill and it's the best thing i've ever had!! Tylenol doesn't do anything, and i'm allergic to aspirine, so i had no other choice but birth control. Now that i'm taking it, i have no more cramps, and the periods are a lot lighter and last for less days. The doctor gave me a low dosis for birth control so that i wouldn't have any side effects and it's really good. It's called Desogen. If you don't find any pain medications that work, you should try birth control.

I dont like taking medicine and the only thing that I have found to help my cramps is to take a warm bath. It is relaxing and helps my cramps a little. Now it doesnt make it go away completely but it does help and they arent as intense.

A tough one. I found something successful for me, and helped alot of friends too. It does not work in the moment of pain, but here you go: Take calcium/magnesium tablets every day. Like 3 a day at night before bed (they also help you relax and sleep). They help the muscles to relax and the cramps will not even show up, so no need to take anything to make them "go away". You have to take them every day for like 3 weeks or 4 weeks for it to have lasting effect. Try it. Not even expensive. You can buy like 500 tablets for 10 bucks at any drug store. (must be calcium and magnesium mix, not only one or other). Good luck.

I used to have cramps, I used to come home and take a long hot bath, make me a cup of Liptons tea and put a heating pad to my tummy or back which ever hurt the most and lay on the couch with my feet up and just relax. My Dr told me one time to eat a lot of bananas while I was on my period..........so I always did....just take it easy and be good to yourself

Take a multivitamin for women, calcium-magnesium-zinc pills 3 times a day, and Fish Oil capsules. A couple grams of vitamin C are helpful as is 400 iu of vitamin E. Just before your period it may also help to take a B50 complex once or twice daily then and through the cycle. Hope this helps.
Black cohosh and Dong quai herbs sometimes help too.

I heard that if you are physically active, you will have shorter periods and less cramps!! start off by just going for a walk every day and working your way up. Make sure you take your vitamins everyday and eat healthy, to help your body stay tip top shape (this also might help with cramps)

this may sound weird, but i promise it works. get on the floor on your hands and knees and arch your back up slowly and hold for a couple seconds, after that reverse the motion and try to get your chest and tummy towards the floor. do this for a couple minutes when it starts to hurt. this helps to stretch out your muscles that are "cramping" up and will stop the cramps. good luck!

Feet up and a hot water bottle on your tummy. I've heard that those stick-on heating pads work really well too for when you are on the go.

Go for a walk or get in a tub full of warm water. And dont drink or eat nothing with caffine and dont eat or drink nothing to sweet on the first day and it might help a little.
