Seriously, if you're bleeding profusely or your stomach hurts THAT bad (and for THAT long), shouldn't you already know it's time to call the doc?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless your friends is an MD or has a PHD, they don't know what they're talking about. Doctors go to school for a very long time, and though they may not know EVERYTHING, they know enough to care for you.

I'm in total agreement 100% with you. I read some of these questions and think, don't these folks realize this is a machine and that the majority of time it's pure speculation on the party that responds as to what the problem is. Ride on Girl, my question is the same as yours. What about your Doctor, Gee!

Beats me! Maybe it's wishful thinking. Hoping someone will come up with a diagnosis that doesn't include the words "doctor" or "serious". Also hoping that something that is noticeable enough for them to actually ask a question on Yahoo doesn't include an expensive visit to the doctor.
It could be reinforcement too. They don't trust their own diagnosis so they ask a question hoping someone will tell them that, yes, they have a problem that actually needs attention. That gives them permission to make the appointment that they were thinking about anyway.

People are probably just trying to see if there is anyone else out there that has experienced the same thing that they happened to be presently experiencing. Some are just seeking some free advice. It could possibly be that they are just being afraid of going to the doctor and hearing bad news.

I don't know but I think it is very foolish. There are many people online who do not tell the truth, and consulting to your doctors is much better. Some people just lie about their problems, also.

Well when people think something is wrong with them it helps them if they know other people have the same problems. So we get on here to see if others want to share their personal experiences. It makes people feel better when they know they are not the only ones suffering.

It is called self diagnosis and self medication. Most people just don't have the funds to see a Doctor on a whim.

I'm guessing they just want a lot of different opinions. It wouldn't hurt to just ask yahoo answers before going to the doctor. We have this site so why not use it.

People sometimes care too much about what other people tell them they should do instead of listening to themselves.
