hire a lawyer....trying to do it yourself is too hard and you will make mistakes and its likely that the judge will have no choice but to throw your case out because of such a mistake.

however, you can do some of your own research to give to the atty in order to keep you costs down.

look in the public records and find your deed and trace it back from owner to owner and make sure there are no gaps and things like that. make sure the property description is the same throughout the history of the deed. do this for the adjoining property too. you'll find these in the courthouse. be aware that you will probably miss things, so the atty will have to do some research there, and thus charge you...but it will be substantially less if they don't have to do it all.
