Kids didn't have entertainment back then in the way do kids do now. They worked if they were not in school--on the farm, local business, whatever. Unless there were battles fought right in their hometown, life probably did not change that dramatically for them, until after the war, when the economy was so crashed kids had to work even more. Entertainment. HAH!
